European Rally Trip - Outbound

Equipped with a new bike, the result of a spontaneous decision 2 weeks before we left, I was quite busy getting it run in time.
Jean too was busy with a meeting in Neath the day before we left, but it all came together in time, despite a fire in the Channel Tunnel causing us to book a ferry to Dunkirk. 9 people left on 8 bikes in sunshine from Dover after a rather foggy and chilly start. The weather was to be much better than expected throughout the trip. Even at Clackett Lane services on the M25 we started running into other Harleys bound for the European Rally at Lake Garda in northern Italy.
A smooth crossing delivered us to Dunkirk on time and a short ride later we were at our first stop not far from St Omer.
