Dubai - the not so pretty

This is an example of the work going on in Dubai, in this case for the Metro. The large buildings are goinng up everywhere and it will take some time for it all to settle down. I was surprised to learn today that only some 7% of Dubai's GDP is from its oil industry, so the positive thing is that all this construction has already moved it ahead and away from its oil dependency. It will look very impressive when it is finished, but there is little evidence of the old town buildings and the character that was not so many years ago.
