The hotel was right by Circular Quay ferry terminal, the second busiest after Hong Kong, and at the heart of life around The Rocks, Sydney Bridge and the iconic Opera House. It was good to be able to fully unpack our suitcases for the first time since Perth!
We spent most of the first full day soaking up Circular Quay and environs, finishing up with a walking tour of the Opera House, which was really interesting. I was impressed with the daily change of shows, and therefore stage sets, in each of the 7 theatres, certainly keeping stage hands busy full time.
Friends from UK, Adrian & Jenny, were in Sydney by coincidence and joint friends from near Melbourne, from our days together in Dallas in the 80's, also came up for dinner, so there was much catching up. Cafe Sydney, located at the top of Customs House with views of Circular Quay and Sydney Bridge, was the venue and very good it was too. The weather, which had looked a bit dodgy at times during the day, held out and made the location perfect.
