Tinbeerwah 2

The weather had turned in our favour, bright sunshine most of the time, nice temperatures, occasional showers, and the cyclone approaching is changing course and downgrading, yeah! So, it was off to the Noosa River and the hire of a boat with picnic, with Captain McGarry at the helm. Our initial attempt at mooring on the anchor for lunch was not good, the stiff breeze blowing towards other yachts, but finding a sandy beach, we threw the anchor onto it and enjoyed a very nice lunch in less windy conditions. Wonderful.
The evening was something else. Neighbour Russell has his own railway! He started it with his brother, but is now progressing it on his own, a narrow guage that goes some 1.5 kms in length and >50m in height up a mountainside on his property. He has the most amazing workshops, tools and machinery, including a sawmill to make his own sleepers. Once a Met Policeman in UK and and Aussie MP, it is now a labour of love project. He has enormous amounts of railway equipment, engines, wagons and signs and took us up the mountain with his wife, Gail and a GP, switching the points at various places. Here, he has started building a look-out verandah and hut, which will be enviable when finished. eBeer, wine and nibbles were transported to the top and the view out over the valley, slightly spoiled by one of those showers but taking nothing form the unique experience before returning in the dark. It took Boys Toys to a new level!
